Quick answers before your RFQ
Can I develop a product without a CAD file?
Yes. Many projects start from a concept description, a hand sketch, a reference product photo or a physical sample. Missing information is identified in the first review.
What information helps you quote accurately?
A drawing, sketch or sample; the application and any mating parts; material and hardness preferences (we can recommend); estimated quantity; colour, surface and packaging requirements; and any certification or testing requirements.
Why do suppliers quote very different prices for the same drawing?
Assumptions differ — mold route, number of cavities, material, cycle time, secondary operations and inspection level. Ask each supplier to list their assumptions in writing so the quotes can be compared on the same basis.
Do you own the mold?
Ownership, use, maintenance, storage and transfer conditions are defined in the tooling agreement for each project. Where transfer is permitted, the release conditions are set out in that agreement.
